Boniferro Mill Works is committed to serving our community. We have participated in community building by supporting the following groups in their laudable endeavors to enrich the culture of Sault Ste. Marie through the arts, sports, science, education and healthcare.

Boniferro Mill Works brought CanStruction to Sault Ste. Marie in 2007. We were able to gather six (6) tons of food for our local soup kitchens. For more information see the articles under the "News" section of this site.

Boniferro Mill Works was a major sponsor and host site for the Algoma Fall Festival’s "Opera To Go" Over 400 people attended a unique Opera in our own Veneer Mill.
We have collaboratively put on a golf tournament to support Crime Stoppers and have completed a Teddy Bear Campaign in collaboration with Flakeboard to benefit our new hospital's radiation bunker.
We as staff have served as Volunteer Directors for the Sault College Applied Arts and Technology, The Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation, Destiny Sault Ste. Marie, Victim Crisis Assistance Referral Service, The Sault Community Career Centre, Sault College Foundation, United Way of Sault Ste. Marie and our employees have served on a myriad of community advisory committees.
Jointly, Safe Communities and ourselves hosted a Chamber of Commerce Take Five Event at our mill.
We have participated in Youth pre-employment programs with the local YMCA Contact Program by providing placement opportunities for Youth at Risk;
We participated in the following fundraising activities for
- Ride for the Cure Motorcycle Rally for the Breast Cancer Foundation.
(one our employees raised the 2nd highest amount of pledges July ‘04)
- Algoma University chair campaign
- Sault College Foundation’sTaste of Sault Ste. Marie and Savour the Night
- Sault Area Hospital Foundation’s Gift Gala for the Cancer Treatment Centre
We have sponsored the Algoma Environthon and Buskerfest. Both activities were geared towards the education and entertainment of our local youth. We have held a Food Drive for the Sault Ste. Marie Soup kitchen when their facilities were broken into.
We are now focusing on one major project with Vincent's Place, The Sault Community Soup Kitchen and Algoma University's Food Bank: The Soup Kitchen.
