Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board Consults with Industry, Educators, Social and Employment Support Providers (Apr 8, 2005) On April 7th the Huron Superior Catholic School Board principals held a forum hear what employers, social and employment support providers have to say about the board's School-Work Transitin Programs. Boniferro Mill Works was there to outline that all curricula should be underpinned with safework-relevance, common sense, and an added focus towards lessons that foster enhancement of emotional intelligence in the workplace.
Dr. Celia Ross outlined some Sault Ste. Marie and Employment Statistics and she offered some advice as to what kind and level of quality of students and workers need to be produced here locally.
Her presentation says that Employers are Looking for:
Adaptability
Resourcefulness
Ability to Problem Solve
Computer Skills.
Other presenters such as Mike Delfre indicated that Entrepreneurial Training programs need to be infused into the curriculum to enhance employablity behaviours, student retention and academic performance.
